13 Trips

1

I have provisionally booked a tour of the BBC on May 3rd. I booked an early session so that we would have a very full day and would be able to do something interesting after the tour. It only lasts 90-120 minutes so I don’t want to take everyone up to London for a couple of hours and then have to turn back again.

However, the current booking means that we would have to leave by 7am. If that is going to be impossible for anyone, I can try to rearrange a later slot. Can you let me know asap - please. I want to take all 29 of you.

2. It appears that I can apply for 9 audience tickets for ‘Deal or No Deal’ in Bristol for a day in the following filming blocks:

05/02-09/02

26/02-02/03

Now, assuming that I go with you, I have to choose 8 students. I have to give the names of everyone in my application so we need to move quickly.

So, if you would like to go, and you are over 18 - don’t lie as I will check with our school office and with the Downfield office - let me know asap. I will have to put the names in a hat at break-time on Friday (2nd).

3. If you are seriously interested in going to Yorkshire to the National Museum of Film and Television on April 25th (with probable overnight stay in Youth Hostel, let me know).

13 Trip

I am looking to take 10-15 Year 13s to look at the set and watch them filming ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467200/ starring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman. The filming is at a big stately home in Melksham (approx 1 hour away)The possible dates are:Thurs Sept 28th, Wed Oct 4th, Thurs Oct 5th, Friday Oct 6th. 15 people is the absolutely max so I can’t take all of you. For the moment, can you let me know if you would be interested and which dates you could make….

We would probably leave Archway at 11.00-11.30 and return by about 3.30. I am not sure how we are going to get there. It might be that I drive everyone in a minibus. We can’t access the place by coach so this might be the only way it could happen. My friend will be able to give us a quick half-hour tour of the set. The rest of the time we would just stand about watching some of the filming etc. It will be interesting for anyone who might want to work in films. Send me a little ‘comment’ if you are interested.

Here’s some pictures of Scarlett and Natalie

13 New stuff for 13s

I have added a page on important background theory for Mags and Gender. Look for it on the right-hand side called : ‘13 Magazines and Gender: Some Background Theory.’ It’s a peach.

Coursework - 12s & 13s

Many, many deadlines have now passed and Rick and I are alarmed that a number of students have failed to submit work. I didn’t see him on Friday afternoon but I know that there was still a good bit missing at lunchtime.

Any missing coursework that is submitted by breaktime on Monday 15th may (I emphasise only ‘may’) be marked. Otherwise you will score 0 out of 120.
